The Culture 

    CougarClan are used to getting by with little food or water, and thus, "famine-training" is incorporated into their education. Young cats are taught how to conserve energy and where to find food and water when traditional prey seem all but non-existent. As a result, CougarClan cats have taken an attitude of being able to tough things out. They oppose weakness, for there is no opportunity to be weak in their unforgiving and difficult territory. Vulnerability and complaining are both heavily frowned upon, cats are expected to keep their hunger pangs to themselves. In a twist on the warrior code, due to elders needing less food, it is more common for nursing queens and kits to get first pick of any and all fresh-kill, and the elders tend to eat after the warriors due to their ability to tough it out for longer. This has led to the other Clans accusing CougarClan of breaking the warrior code when this information spread to other Clans, but they defend the practice as necessary for their Clan to thrive. CougarClan are very careful about how they choose their conflicts and typically, it is over resources only. They are intelligent and capable of making difficult choices in impossible situations, which causes the other Clans to view them as cold and aloof compared to their own cats. Logical, smart and quick-thinking, CougarClan are strategists even in combat, known for using tricks and clever ploys to swing a battle in their favour.

Arranged Mates

    Currently, there exist four families within CougarClan that value arranged mates and carry on the tradition. They style their names; after large cloven animals, colors, birds, and rock formations. Members of these families are often the first pick for patrols and looked to for advice during difficult times. They are self-proclaimed elites of CougarClan; those who cater to their inflated sense of superiority often try to prove themselves to the older family members in the hope they are asked to join via arranged mates. Some of CougarClan don't care and see it as an outdated tradition.
