The Culture
BearClan are, like their namesake, the biggest and strongest of the cats of the Clans. Large, thick-furred and gruff in speech, they earned a reputation as large oafs who let their fangs do the talking. While they very much lean into this stereotype as it gives them an intimidating image and makes the other Clans less inclined to attack them, BearClan are at heart, big fluffy softies. They spend a lot of their time bonding with each other, and are the most affectionate and loving out of all the Clans. They will huddle close together for warmth and frequently share tongues to reinforce their relationships. Do not be fooled by their playful, loving nature, for there is some truth to their reputation among their enemies. BearClan are brutally violent in combat and will do anything within their power to protect their Clan from any threat. Known for their borderline insane courage, BearClan are the most likely to stand their ground even against impossible threats and attempt to intimidate it into backing off. Apprentices, however, are not expected to risk their lives the way the warriors are. During times of danger, apprentices are instructed to climb trees in order to escape. Kits are typically taught to climb upon a small log propped up against the side of the cave within the camp, and so by the time they are apprentices, are proficient at scaling trees to safety. BearClan are especially protective of their youth, perhaps even bordering on over-protective.
