Her mother always assured her that she was the same way when she had been an apprentice.

Hollypaw is one of the only members of her family to have long fur; much to her frustration. She feels like she spends so much of her time maintaining her appearance, spending what seems like hours in her day grooming and smoothing out her pelt, just like her mother had taught her. Hollypaw's coloring is the perfect combination of her mother's calico pelt, and her father's mousy brown tabby stripes.

overview: Hollypaw is your classic eldest golden child. She was raised to believe that everything she touches is amazing and better than everyone else, which has made her apprenticeship all the more rocky. She's loud, occasionally rude and always a know-it-all. Hollypaw has very rarely had a thought that goes unexpressed; which has gotten her into trouble more often than not. Typically, she means well, which is possibly the worst part. She operates on the assumption that everyone else has the same values as she, which will likely be a problem in her future, and wants to believe the best in everyone. [break][break]
One of her most frustrating qualities for her elder clanmates, and her mentor especially, is her insistence on inserting herself into things that don't involve her. Hollypaw has a strong sense of justice, and believes in defending others, especially since she feels she has failed so spectacularly in the past.

Born as the eldest of her siblings, Hollykit was the apple of her mother's eye. The two looked very similar, even from a young age, and her mother often would spend more time with her daughter than her other kits. She was the golden kit, and everything that Hollykit said and did was deemed as important by her parents. However, it is likely that this damaged her relationship with her siblings, none of whom she is currently close with at all. [break][break]
Much of her early life was uninspired, though Hollykit spent much of it bossing her siblings and the other younger kits in the nursery around. Hollykit was the one who was always deciding on what games to play, and who was what when they did so. Hollykit was often frustrated with her siblings when they failed to stand up for themselves, and shocked that they weren't ready to argue with elder clanmates at the drop of a hat like she was. Even as a kit, she was infamous for her mouth. [break][break]
Becoming an apprentice was the day she had been dreaming of for her whole life. Apprenticeship had been built up in such a way in the young she-cat's head that it was far removed from reality, and she is beginning to realize that being an apprentice isn't as glamorous as she once believed it to be. She still loves it regardless, but is often frustrated at both the system, and her mentor most often. [break][break]
Hollypaw's first real dose of reality came when Brownpaw had his accident. Some sort of catastrophic rockslide during a patrol left his mentor dead, and Brownpaw unconscious. No one she had known had ever died before, and the revelation at how quickly life could end shocked her to her core. Her worldview was completely altered when Cloudstar, a cat she had put on this pedestal, finally came down to see her brother, only to change his name to Twistedpaw. When Hollypaw heard the news about her brother's name change, she wanted to march into Cloudstar's den to give him a piece of her mind; but was chastised and bogged down with work by her mentor, who knew her well enough to know that she was dead serious in that moment. Since Brow-, Twistedpaw's accident, Hollypaw has tried to take time out of her day to spend time with her brother. But how do you repair a lifetime (albeit a short one) of awkward distance? Fortunately, Hollypaw has never been a quitter.
