Rootface is a kind and loving soul, she likes to have fun and some might say she's still a little kit like at heart still. She does her duties and doesn't complain, though some might view her as somewhat clumsy or even sloppy in her work despite her not being those things. It just seems like nothing she does is good enough to certain cats. Rootface does her best to not let the opinions of others affect her but it's hard not to. It makes her worry and tense up to hear others speaking poorly of everything she does. It's worse with her family as her father still scares her and due to how Maneroar changed during his apprenticeship, she outright tries to avoid him.
While she likes clan life, she's questioning her place amongst the clan. What use is she really? Her mentor had her be given a name that didn't reflect anything but her getting hit by her brother for whatever reason. It was natural to freeze up when someone jumps out of nowhere at you and you weren't skilled enough or ready for such a encounter. So she....she's conflicted.
History:
Rootkit was born to two warriors of Elkclan, the third kit of a litter of four, she was the only she-cat born to the litter. Her brothers were rambunctious and troublesome, while Rootkit was more reserved. She quickly became that way due to her father being a cat who'd raise his voice quickly and send fear through her pelt. He seemed unable to relax and was extremely stern with each of them, never seeming to be pleased with what they did. Her brothers wouldn't hide their true thoughts on their father but she kept quiet. The warrior scared her and she had trouble viewing him as her father because of this. She found more comfort with her mother than her father and while she would play games with her brothers, she was still more reserved and quiet with them. Almost afraid to make too much noise.
At six moons old, she and her brothers became apprentices. Surprisingly, Manepaw was given to their father to mentor. It was strange but Rootpaw didn't say anything about it. She was glad that she wouldn't have her father looming over her and was hopeful for learning with her mentor. While she wanted to be a strong warrior for her clan, she found herself constantly conflicting over what she was being taught. Her mentor wasn't much for socialize and the reason for being given Rootpaw was to try and get them out of their shell. Often her mentor didn't make things clear enough and seemed to not be into training her much. As she went through her apprenticeship, she noticed Manepaw started to act differently. He became harsh and was rather loud yet he started to ignore his siblings. Rootpaw tried to talk to him several times but Manepaw would respond with insults and walk away after berating her for being so weak willed due to how her training was going.
Near the end of her apprenticeship, her mentor took her on a patrol with others; including her brother Manepaw and their father. It was a silent and oddly tense patrol until two loners attacked them. One had gotten her by the ear and she screamed as she thrashed. Her sloopy attacks weren't helping her. She was saved by her mentor and her family members an the loners chased off, Manepaw though was quick to lecture her about the entire event despite the injuries. For a change, her mentor stood up for her and this angered Manepaw, causing him to lash out and hit her in the face. Resulting in a long gash across her face and near her eye; thankfully damage was avoided to her eye and her father and mentor separated Manepaw from her.
She healed up nicely thanks to being in the medicine den a few days, although she wondered if her place truly was to be a warrior or not. Upon reaching twelve moons, she was made a warrior with her brothers. Apparently her mentor requested that she be named Rootface in order to teach her a permanent lesson for how her folly could cost her or a clanmate their own eye or more. While accepting the name, it has left her feeling empty and more confused on her role in the clan. At least she had a couple of friends still...right?
