The Mediator
[attr="class","charactertext"]
Sagefoot isn't purebred, considering his grandparents ruptured the genetics with his grandmother being a Siberian Forest Cat. Purity didn't necessarily matter since he didn't belong to the regal CougarClan with their mostly perfect bloodlines. The tomcat takes on the size of a Siberian Forest Cat although still maintaining the physique and facial structure of a Maine Coon. The bachelor's long, satiny pelage is a dusty silver with an alabaster mane and throat. It's hard to miss his radiant white paws, tufted with lengthy fluff to keep his toes protected and warm in bitter weather. Sagefoot's silvery dusty pelt is furnished with dark gray classic tabby markings, unique to himself. His pelt doesn't seem to make complete circles, broken and stretched. Behind Sagefoot's shoulder blades and along his spine appears to look like a two-leg skull created by his tabby markings. His distinct markings create quite the illusion. The medicine cat's countenance is alluring, especially with his intense and passionate amber gaze standing out amongst his gray facade. His visage appears more yellow in darker light, altering between amber and yellowish tints.
Sagefoot isn't the most talkative feline unless spoken to. Despite his serene behavior, he is very eloquent when he does decide to open his maw. His speech is conveyed with tender compassion, and can become overwhelmingly detail-oriented. Sagefoot gained this trait from his mentor, who spoke with great detail and explained things thoroughly. After all, he had numerous moons to acquaint with his mentor. Sagefoot is exceedingly courteous, sure to communicate virtuously. Sagefoot believes being respectful and polite is the best way to earn the same thing in response despite any insolence expressed to him. "Treat others how you want to be treated." He follows those words sincerely and is compassionate. An extraordinary trait that Sagefoot acquires is his empathetic nature. Sagefoot has always been a phenomenal listener and learner, quickly seizing information. He appears to process others' emotions better than the things amidst him, so he enjoys being there for others, almost like a therapist. He is spiritually intact with his ancestors, naturally apprehending the significance of spirituality. He adores helping others with their state in how they currently feel, as it will most likely urge him to speak as well. He typically finds friends with those who are open to warming up to him and expressing feelings. He is also highly intuitive with empathy, going with his intuition rather than with his heart or head. He follows the conscious sense that is perceived by his intuition, and for the most part, it has worked out for him so far in his lifetime.
Sagefoot is occasionally complex to understand, and what makes it even more of a challenge is the placid energy he gives off. It's more complex to please or upset Sagefoot if it's his own doing. He rarely gets frustrated by others, predominately only blaming himself for mistakes, primarily due to his line of work. He'll never forget the first life he permitted to slip through his paws. Sagefoot has acquired a sense of patience and understanding that others might have something going on that interferes with their thought processing. He doesn't desire to blame anyone, ever. Anyone attempting to surprise Sagefoot may be upset with the result unless they know him enough to bring out excitement. Many might find the tomcat unfathomable, which is entirely possible. He can be straightforward to get along with or the way opposite, too tricky. Some might be distasteful due to his extreme devotion to the duties passed onto him. It can be a challenge to get along with someone who doesn't give much to talk about, but giving him a chance is the best way, not that many will realize. Sagefoot prefers to answer questions about herbs and illnesses or listen and advise clanmates. Many might avoid Sagefoot due to his devoted mentality. Likely, he will only have kits or a mate if someone changes his perspective. He is devoted to ElkClan and StarClan, forbidding breaking the Warrior Code. Once he has warmed up, believe it or not, Sagefoot is found to be whimsical, enjoying his time to get away from duties and let loose a bit. Finding someone to let loose with will guide Sagefoot to be more open-minded and sincere; at least, that's the hope. He tends to be whimsical in a more physical way, such as gently pushing at another or pawing, but often he will tell a few jokes. He has a sense of humor but refuses to show it in profound instants.
Sagefoot is in-and-out, excessively cautious regarding his previous instances with felines who moved on to life with StarClan. He doesn't particularly enjoy it when his clanmates go out and endanger themselves unless the intention serves itself well. His intellect of possible injuries in situations of all sorts presents when a clanmate thinks about doing something dangerous; he is quick to inform them of the potential hazards. He loathes when others return injured since he doesn't enjoy seeing others in pain. However, deep down, he thoroughly relishes every moment when examining a wound or injury and is not so interested in illnesses. Don't be fooled; he is relatively knowledgeable in all areas, even keeping track of the mentality of his clanmates. Sagefoot is deceitful, mostly unintentionally. He knows his unpleasant thoughts, though he never mentions them to anyone. Sagefoot's thoughts are often intrusive and disturbing, curious about everyone who enters the medicine cat's den with any pain. He'd never hurt anyone, but his adoration for aiding others to recover was interesting. He doesn't allow these morbid thoughts to get in the way of his duties as a medicine cat, keeping them to himself without uttering a word. Unfortunately, Sagefoot has had images like this since the death he witnessed in his youth, though he never feared he'd harm anyone. He wouldn't dare break the code. Strangely, Sagefoot is somewhat ritualistic, primarily when concentrated on a significant injury that could be fatal. However, even with minimal injuries, Sagefoot follows similar precautions and vocals, maintaining a soothing, calm voice as he speaks with an injured or ill feline. Sagefoot is one spiritual tom, feeling in touch with his soul, or so he claims.

โ BIRTH
It was the most dangerous season of the year when three kittens were born to Basilthroat and Lizardbreath, two youthful warriors who graduated into warriorhood approximately four moons ago. Leafbare was exceptionally threatening to the young due to the wolf threat, frigid weather, and scarcity of supplies and feasts. The pair were twenty-three moons old, hearts and tails entwined with one another. Fortunately, the kittens would be raised with affection and encouragement, much like most ElkClan kits. ElkClan was marvelous in all the ways the Clan expressed their love for one another. It was tightly knit, neglecting a majority of outsiders. Basilthroat and Lizardbreath named their three kits, Sagekit, Bonekit, and Tanglekit. They each presented a meaning behind the names the pair decided on. Sagekit's was simple since the parents agreed to name the first-born Sagekit, as they had always promoted the name since first speaking about raising a family together. Bonekit was the largest of the litter, named for his dusty white fur and large physique. Lastly, Tanglekit. His pelage was very thick and long, more lengthy than his littermates. His pelt was matted and dense upon birth, taking the longest to groom and clean.
โ KITHOOD
Sagekit and his brothers were three rambunctious toms as soon as they could see and hear, hoarding their mother's attention and affection from their father. Lizardbreath didn't expect to be alone with his mate for a while, considering his children's attachment to their mother. He found it bittersweet. However, the three boys enjoyed playing and typically tackled one another. During that time, Lizardbreath took in all the time he could; it was clear that his boys were mama's boys. Sagekit was the eccentric one out of the three toms, and he was deemed more watchful and inquisitive at their young age. While his brothers preferred to tussle and pick at one another, Sagekit often intervened when it would go too far. His brothers sometimes would get into disagreements or make rules as they proceeded, frustrating one another. The young tom was a mediator between his brothers, endeavoring to keep them from using their claws; they became more impulsive as they aged.
One morning, Sagekit found himself wandering away from the nursery, slipping from his parents' sight. This was the first time one of their kittens dispersed from their vision, so it was likely that panic would arise when they noticed one of their boys was missing. Sagekit discovered another den, the medicine cat's den. He peered his cranium around the corner, eyes meeting ElkClan's excellent medicine cat, Leafwatcher. His heart began to ease, slowing as the aromatic odor entered his nasal passages. It was serene. It was the smell of herbs and material alike. The kitten's baby blue hues widened as he skipped into the den, jumping at the tom's paws, "Wow! What's that smell?" And from that moment, his bond with the medicine cat would develop into much more. Sagekit wasn't aware of his destiny in ElkClan, but it would be reassuring. He often visited Leafwatcher, who allowed him to ask questions about his duties and the herbs that assisted in aiding their clanmates. He hated seeing his brothers get hurt, no matter how minimal the damage was.
One night, at four and a half moons, the young tom struggled to fall asleep as the strange feeling of apprehension overwhelmed his diminutive frame. His physique was tucked up against his mother's belly and piled in with his two siblings, accumulating a mass of warmth. Sagekit shifted slightly, eventually finding himself comfortable and able to plunge into a deep slumber. Soon after falling asleep, Sagekit found himself in an unknown location, although tranquil and airy. His gaze would turn to his paws, and underneath was ElkClan, far below his reach. Sagekit's initial thought was to panic until the sound of delicate pawsteps neared, snapping his head toward the oncoming silhouette. His baby hues blinked slowly, attempting to regain his composure and understand what was happening. Sagekit assumed this was an excessively visual dream, unlike any he'd experienced prior. When the frame finally reached his vision, he realized it was a feline, perhaps a StarClanner from the glassy, starry appearance it'd taken on. "Ah, well, hello!" The youngster chirped, joyous to greet an ancestor.
From the stories Elders told him, he assumed it was Leafwatcher's mentor, the previous medicine cat of ElkClan. The tall, lengthy feline extended his head forward and down, touching noses with the fluffy and dusty-silver kitten. Sagekit mewed out of delight, a soft purr rumbling from beneath his trachea in reaction to this experience. He believed meeting this particular StarClanner was serenity, a haven triggering the sensation of bliss in the unfamiliarity of another. After a moment, the opposing physique faded from his vision, jolting him awake out of bewilderment. For the next moon, all he could think about was this dream. He touched noses with a medicine cat; what could that mean?

โ APPRENTICESHIP
Sagekit was starting to become confused and hopeless, wondering why his brothers received their apprentice names a moon earlier. Maybe it was his preoccupied mentality. Sagekit had been spending too much time in the medicine cat's den with Leafwatcher. Not only that, but he experienced another dream that raised questions in the tom's mind. In the second dream, he spent a few minutes learning about lavender and the importance of the herb. Why was he learning about herbs? Despite his confusion, he cherished the concept of aiding injured and ill felines, especially those in his Clan, his family. Though on his seventh moon, the day finally arrived, the day he'd discover his fate in ElkClan. Sagekit was given a ceremony solely for him, the opportunity for the leader to announce his role in the Clan. Sagekit was renamed Sagepaw and assigned to Leafwatcher as his mentor. Sagekit will never forget those words, "Sagekit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Sagepaw. Your mentor will be Leafwatcher. I hope Leafwatcher will pass down all he knows on to you."
Fortunately, it wasn't Sagepaw's first rodeo regarding herbs, diseases, injuries, and illnesses since he had been up Leafwatcher's rear since he was about three moons. Of course, there was still much to retain and understand, as there were numerous things to look out for. Sagepaw wasn't too challenging to lecture, quickly obtaining the information Leafwatcher acquainted him with. Sagepaw primarily enjoyed foraging for herbs, stocking up when needed, especially when Leafbare was nearing. The season was harsh and took a majority of herbs with it. The diminutive tomcat adhered to Leafwatcher's flank whenever dealing with an illness or injury, carefully watching and listening as Leafwatcher guided him through procedures. The medicine cat apprentice's first kit delivery wasn't pleasant, regarding the significant blood loss from the queen. He failed to clot the bleeding fast enough, losing her life. It was his first loss. Leafwatcher wasn't angered, but death could've been prevented if he had complete control. Sagepaw was concerned that he would fail as a medicine cat, desiring to improve.
Sagepaw never wanted to face that again, although that wasn't possible in the life of a medicine cat. He would undoubtedly face multiple deaths in his lifetime, some harsher than others. There was trial after trial, gradually improving in the craft as a medicine cat. During his training, Sagepaw eventually developed his way of approaching injured or ill clanmates, easing them through the circumstances with his mellifluous, hushed voice. The young tom enjoyed talking his classmates through the pain, intensely scrutinizing their vocal, emotional, and physical responses in hopes of learning something new. Sagepaw frequently shared his thoughts with Leafwatcher, mentioning the importance of mental attributes when dealing with an illness or injury. Still, his mentor knew it, and he was happy to hear Sagepaw's emphasis. It wasn't long before Sagepaw's first "big" injury occurred when his clanmate dislocated her shoulder from a high fall. It wasn't enjoyable relocating her shoulder and popping it into place, but he enjoyed the sound of it. The more he dealt with these situations, and the more intrigued he became by them, especially wounds and the mentality of others.
Sagepaw spent countless moons alongside Leafwatcher, facing the most violent death of approximately twenty-five moons of age. The tomcat found himself foraging for herbs on his lonesome while Leafwatcher monitored a queen going into labor. He was sent out to retrieve borage leaves due to the pregnant queen's lack of milk production. It'll be necessary when the kits are born, assuming there were two to three kits she'd have to nurse. Sagepaw came across a rusty, metallic aroma, typically indicating blood. The apprentice quickly gathered his herbs and tracked down the scent, discovering one of his clanmates. The feline was mangled with deep punctures, although still breathing. He assumed a large predator, such as a wolf, had gotten to them. It wasn't all that disturbing; for once, he embraced the moment. He'd live with this memory forever. Quickly, he retreated to gather more herbs, seeing as his clanmate was still breathing, weeping in pain. Sagepaw attempted to clot the blood utilizing cobweb, and he was forced to use quite a bit of it.
His clanmate would either pass to thrive with his ancestors overhead or live to tell his story. Sagepaw was desperate to make this work, a moment to be proud of and boost his ever-trembling confidence. Sagepaw seized the release of blood, chewing comfrey into a poultice to apply it to the wound to soothe the pain, following up with chewed goldenrod. Fearing the opposing feline could go into shock due to the severity, Sagepaw didn't hesitate to give poppy seeds to his clanmate. Thankfully, he provided his clanmate with water-soaked moss, engaging the other in drinking to prevent dehydration; it was unknown how long he was there. Sagepaw refused to leave the tom's flank, releasing a vociferous, ululating yowl to draw his clanmates in his direction. While he waited, he concentrated on his clanmate, noticing his hind paw looked quite out of place. It was either broken or dislocated, and there was one way to find out. He reverted to the old and familiar claw-poke method, unsheathing a claw to extend toward the injured area, prodding twice with a question in between. His clanmate couldn't feel it, assuming the enemy broke it.
Finally, his clanmates arrived, who happened to drag along Leafwatcher, who was relatively surprised and proud of his apprentice. Perhaps it was time to become a full medicine cat, assisting Leafwatcher until he decided it was time to retire. From there, his clanmate was carried back by warriors and settled in the medicine cat's den, where his clanmate would stay to recover. It would be a lengthy recovery due to his nearly fatal injuries and fractured hind paw. It wasn't long before Sagepaw's medicine cat ceremony arrived, given the name Sagefoot for his urgency to aid his clanmates and overall quick-witted demeanor.

It would be a lengthy recovery due to his nearly fatal injuries and fractured hind paw. It wasn't long before Sagepaw's medicine cat ceremony arrived, given the name Sagefoot for his urgency to aid his clanmates and overall quick-witted demeanor.
โ LIFE AS A MEDICINE CAT
Sagefoot hadn't quite expected his fate as a medicine cat, although he'd accepted it without complaint. He believed this was where he belonged and how he would flourish in ElkClan. Warriorhood wasn't ever a thought for him since he'd met Leafwatcher early on in his kithood. Sagefoot assumed his ancestors had watched him for a while, admiring his fascination with herbs and the profession that came with it. For now, Sagefoot would work alongside his former mentor, now as a medicine cat, until Leafwatche decided to retire or find himself with StarClan. Sagefoot's concerns shrouded illnesses and disease since they struck primarily during the Leafbare when the wolf threat was high. These perils in ElkClan could often perish a few lives or numbers. It was daunting for the medicine cats, and yet he cherished the times when he could study and attempt to find more potent remedies. It is evident that the most challenging and fatal season was Leafbare, and it was something he'd become prompt with. Sagefoot would start preparing for Leafbare about two weeks before the Leaf-Fall herbs would wilt and vanish for the wintry season. It depended on the weather's cycle and how quickly it was getting cold that year.
His clanmates consistently praised Sagefoot for his quickness for planning, as he loathed Leafbare for its brutality. He dedicated himself to preventing illnesses from spreading or becoming too severe, refusing to allow a colossal quarantine. Sagefoot attempted to control the conditions in smaller groups rather than passing them onto numerous clanmates. One year, Sagefoot's worst Leafbare had fallen upon him, struck by the infamous Greencough. Sagefoot and Leafwatcher had their paws full of sickened clanmates, fumbling to maintain their herb stock while carrying for them. Sagefoot grew concerned that he and Leafwatcher would become severely ill, although, Sagefoot had been the one to suffer through the mild sickness, Whitecough. One of Sagefoot's family members fell sick, his brother, Bonestorm, but his sickness was different. Bonestorm was hacking up blood, the skin beneath his white fur was fair, and phlegm discharged from his nose. He was much more ill than everyone else, losing blood relatively quickly. Sagefoot quarantined his brother, working rapidly at his sibling's flank in hopes of recovery. Redcough was dangerous and not the most common. Unfortunately, Bonestorm was unsymptomatic until Redcough onset abruptly. The chest infection was profound and worsening as time passed, Bonestorm lasting no more than a few hours from the cough raking his lungs and blood filling his lungs due to asphyxiation.
The experience of watching his sibling vanish from the existence of the physical world enlightened Sagefoot, straying from the way an ordinary individual would process death. Sure, Sagefoot mourned, but then again, accessing his ancestors wasn't challenging, but it occurred over time. Sagefoot believed he would meet Bonestorm again when his time would come to leave the ground and join the sky. When his brother passed, he whispered, "May we meet again, Bonestorm. You're safe now. Run free, and hunt endlessly with our Ancestors." Sagefoot was hurt, but he expressed it without negativity, endeavoring to look at the brighter side. Bonestorm would've wanted him to. Bonestorm was a happy-go-lucky tom with excellent technical skills in combat, but he looked at everything with optimism. He was bulletproof, and Sagefoot admired that. It wasn't only optimism; it was spiritual. They would meet again, and he knew that. Sagefoot persisted, clashing back against Greencough's sweep through ElkClan during the harsh season. Despite some lives lost, Leafwatcher and Sagefoot conquered the horrible illness and prevailed into Newleaf.
The medicine cat maintained a new perspective, desiring to make the best of life and give all he could to ElkClan. He feared the loss of Leafwatcher or even his retirement because he was on his lonesome once those changes occurred. Only time will tell.
